ADMINISTRATION OF THE INSTITUTE

Board of the Institute

The management of the Institute is vested in a Board comprised of the following members: the Vice-Chancellor of the University, who is Chairman of the Board, the Principal and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the St. Augustine Campus of the University, the Director of the Institute, a representative of the University nominated by the Vice-Chancellor; the Director of the Graduate Institute of International Studies, Geneva; the Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community Secretariat; the Director-General of the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS); two representatives of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago; and one representative each of the Governments of Guyana and Jamaica. The Board meets at least once a year.

Director and Secretariat

The general administration of the Institute rests with the Director who is responsible to the Board for the proper discharge of his functions and who assumes responsibility for the direction and furtherance of the external relations of the Institute. He is assisted by a Committee of the Institute which is comprised of all members of the academic staff of the Institute and such members of the academic staff of the University and representatives of the student body as the Committee may co-opt. In the administrative and financial management and in the implementation of the general policies of the Institute, as well as in its day-to-day operations, the Director is assisted by an Administrative Assistant who heads the Secretariat.
