1. SOCIAL AND HISTORICAL THEMES

• Multi-racial and multi-cultural encounters in the Caribbean Basin and their proliferation on the continent.
  
• Columbus' caravels and the " Mayflower".
  
• Racial and cultural assimilation and exclusion.
  
• Latin America and Anglo America: their differences on the continent and their integration in the Spanish, French, English and Dutch Caribbean.
  
• Problems of identity in the New World and in Anglo America and Europe at the end of the Second Millennium.
  
• Problems arising out of the multi-racial and multi-cultural nature of the New World. The existence of the same in the Old World and the ways they were resolved in the Helenic and Latin conception of the Mediterranean.

2. POLITICAL THEMES:

• The New Millennium: the Caribbean and the continent. Problems that confront them in the globalization of the New Millennium.
  
• Present-day problems in the United States and Western Europe

• Terrorism in the United States: implications and consequences for Latin America and the Caribbean.

• Race, religion and migration in International Relations between the Caribbean and Latin America.
  

• Problems and threats to national and/or regional security in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  

• Political and Economic factors in the formulation of new external policies in the Caribbean and Latin America.

3. CULTURAL THEMES:

• The Mediterranean Basin, the Caribbean Basin, and the Pacific Basin and their expression in the continent as Spanish, Iberian and Latin entities.
  

• Anglo-Saxon expansion and Latin assimilation.
  

• Thomas Jefferson and his ideal of filling empty spaces and Sim6n Bolivar and his assimilation of differences.
  

• Assimilation of Latin America and Anglo America at the end of the Second Millennium.
  

•  The New World as a factor of integration, between oceans that bathe the Old World, i.e., the Pacific and the Atlantic.
  

•  The Mediterranean myths of Atlantis as seen in Plato, and Thule as seen in Seneca. The myths of the poets of the Caribbean and the Cosmic Race of the continent.
  

• The Caribbean in the corridor of ideas of the New World. Indigenismo and negritude. Shakespeare's Caliban and its interpretation by Jose Enrique Rodo and Caribbean poets and thinkers.
  

• The Caribbean in the identity of Andean America, Brazil and the Patagonia.
  

•  Problems of integration in the Pacific Basin and the Asiatic continent. Africa and Western and Eastern Europe.
  

• Similar manifestations in Russia, the frontier between Europe and Asia.
  

•  Folklore festivals of the Cosmic Race. Origins of the globalized diversity in the integrating Conferences of FIEALC and SOLAR.

• Problems of integration in the New World and the quest for a solution in economic ventures such as ALCA. An ALCA open to diversity and an exclusive ALCA.
  
• The imperial globalization of the Old World and the integrating globalization of the differences in the New World.
